You can trust him.

Those are words that bring comfort when sizing up another person. Each one wants an added level of confidence in the stranger that you want to work with, the guy that wants to date your daughter, the coach for your kids team, or maybe the salesman you want to make a purchase from. Do you find comfort hearing from someone else that working with or for another is a safe venture?

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.

Jeremiah 17:7

The word tells us we can trust the Lord. Not only can we trust him but that trust comes with a firm statement that for those who do place their trust in the Lord they will be blessed.

To be blessed may look different for each one. Blessings are not always about money, promotions or convenience. Having traveled the world I find that many believers put their hope and trust in the Lord never receiving more money, a job, good health or a promotion. The opposite is more likely to occur in many parts of the world. The cost of trusting in the Lord may require the loss of family, income and home.

In modern day America we struggle with the idea that blessings can come in difficulties. The blessing is in the personal relationship with Christ that brings peace. Not in a God who acts as the sugar daddy, the Santa year round or the guilt filled parent who feels the need to buy the love of a child.

To be blessed is to have a blanket of peace that comes to the spirit with no demands listed. The blessing is the confidence that regardless of the circumstances:

To live

To die

To have much

To have little

in all things Jesus is worthy to be trusted.

In all of life when our trust is in the Lord we can live well and we can die well regardless of our circumstances.

The blessing is the relationship that you can trust. When all I have is Jesus, I find that is enough.
