For many 2020 has been a year that could be featured in a scary movie. The type of year that may cause nightmares.

For me 2020 has been a year to remember. The year I survived COVID. The year my youngest son bought his first house. The year of the most beautiful outdoor wedding with a perfect blue sky and a gentle temperature with just a lite breeze. The day I saw my youngest son cry with excitement as his gorgeous bride walked toward him in front of family and friends to become his wife. The year of turning 50 and celebrating with friends and family. The year of writing a book, God Talks Back, and having it sold on Amazon. The year of being honored by my beloved Southern Wesleyan University as their Outstanding Alumnus of the Year.

Yes, when many are ready for this election year to be over, for COVID to be cured and for mask not to be required to enter every store, I am celebrating so many good things. I’m hoping that this dream year will forever be one I will remember in a positive way for the rest of my life.

How can my year be so different than the rest of the world?

One, I trust that God has a plan in the midst of COVID. Two, I choose not to worry over things I can not control. Three, I believe that God will see us through the dangers of medical crisis, the turbulence of another election year and I have faith God will direct our paths for each new adventure.

Are you in a dream of year or hoping to wake from the worse nightmare of 2020? Allow me to offer you hope in Jesus, the author and finisher of our race.

Life is short. Don’t live in fear. Wear a mask if necessary, use the hand sanitizer; but, live your best life. Celebrate your kids getting married. Join family for cake and ice cream for birthdays. Even launch you first book, or open a business or go back to school. God’s Word tells us in Ephesians 6:12, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” So, stop blaming the President, COVID, or your neighbor that may be different than you for all that has gone wrong this year or in this life.

Recognize, our time on this earth is short, the evil one is the Devil, and his schemes are to kill, steal and destroy our best life. So it is time to wake up! Live life to the fullest. Trust the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind. When you release the things you have no control over to the One who knows all, sees all and has all under control. Then and only then can you take a nightmare of a year and see the beauty that lies all around.

To GOD BE THE GLORY, I have lived my best life in 2020, it truly has been a dream come true kind of year.

What about you? Turn your darkest days over to the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to show you the beauty in the midst of difficult days.
