Rev. Joy Bryant, author and speaker currently makes her home in the beautiful foothills of South Carolina with her husband Robin. They have been married for 30+ years and the proud parents of two adult sons, two gorgeous daughter in laws, and the sweetest grandsons ever.
Joy attended Southern Wesleyan University where she earned her undergraduate degree in psychology in 1992 and completed her Master of Science in Management in 2004. Joy retired from Southern Wesleyan University where she invested 21 years of service as Director of Enrollment and Executive Director of Alumni and Constituent Relations.
Having answered the call into ministry Joy was ordained as a minister in 2014. She is an active member of ALIVE Wesleyan Church in Central, SC where she serves with on the Care Ministries Team with a focus on bereavement. Joy serves the S.C. District of The Wesleyan Church as a member of the Table Rock Legacy Camp Board. She has served as a leader on the District Board of Administration and served many years on the District Board of Ministerial Development.
This woman of God enjoys traveling and can be spotted speaking, preaching and vacationing both domestically and internationally.
In 2019 she expanded her ministry working with bereavement services at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central, SC.
In 2020 Joy published the book, GOD TALKS BACK. This book is a collection of real stories from Joy’s life highlighting prayers and their unexpected answers.
Her heart for ministry has opened up opportunities for speaking and preaching in camp meetings, conferences and retreats all over the world. Joy’s heart for God and her passion for community is evident to all. Prior to her work at Southern Wesleyan, Joy spent several years as a clinical counselor. Joy’s desire is to offer her experience, strength and hope to all, as she shares her Christian journey of more than 45 years.

In 2021 God opened a new door of ministry where Joy joined the team of MSA-Hospice as Chaplain and Bereavement Coordinator. Her plan is to spend the rest of her life offering love and support to families everywhere that are in their darkest hours of grief and loss.
Joy is quoted saying, “I’m not retired, I’m just getting started doing what I was born to do; loving God and loving people during crisis moments.” Her dedication to ministry is evident in the care and compassion she shares with everyone.
