NO SKIN IN THE GAME….. Have you ever heard that statement? Do you know what that means? If you have ever played a sport you may understand better when I say, “I got a strawberry on my hip after that slide” or “Boy, that hit will leave a mark!” What do all of these statements mean?
To have skin in the game means you are not on the sideline observing, instead you are active at all cost. Even if you find the game is taking part of your own skin. Bumps and bruises are a part of life.
As a mom of boys one of our favorite sayings when they were in sports is this; IF IT DOES NOT HURT AND YOU ARE NOT DIRTY, THEN YOU DID NOT PLAY!
Think about that, in life God wants us to pick up our cross and follow him. The road may be long, a few splinters are expected from the cross. But Christ put skin in the game when he went to the cross. What are you waiting for, jump in the game of life. Yes, it might hurt. You may feel sore at times. But it will be great to tell the story later about the cost of following Jesus.
